Kiln Firing Service

Camille’s Creations Studio | 5 Rutland Street, Studio 10, Newtown

We offer a contactless, easy pickup and drop-off kiln firing service designed for convenience and peace of mind.

How It Works:

  1. Drop off your work on Wednesdays or Saturdays during studio opening hours.

  2. Place your items on the designated shelf.

  3. We fire it to your requested temperature:

    • Bisque firing: 1000°C

    • Glaze firing: Up to Cone 6 (approx. 1220°C)

  4. We contact you when your work is ready.

  5. Weigh your work on our studio scales — and you're done!

Pricing:

  • $12 per kilogram

  • Minimum charge: 1 kg

Firing Policy

We take great care with your ceramics, but please read and follow these guidelines:

  • All work must be 100% dry before drop-off. Damp pieces can explode during firing.

  • We do not offer once-firing. All glazed work must be bisque-fired first.

  • The base and at least 5mm above it must be glaze-free to protect kiln shelves.

  • Please label, count, and log your pieces in the firing register.

  • Take photos of your work before drop-off for your own records.

  • Be ready to tell us the specific firing temperature of your clay and glaze.

  • We only fire full kilns. If there’s not enough to fill a kiln:

    • You may be asked to wait

    • Or you can hire a full kiln – contact us for pricing

Collection & Storage

  • After you're notified, please collect your work within 2 weeks.

  • Uncollected work will be disposed of unless prior arrangements are made.

  • We offer extended storage for a small fee.

Damage & Liability

While we handle your pieces with care, Camilles Creations Studio is not responsible for damage or loss during firing. Ceramics always involves some risk.

You will be liable for:

  • $50 cleaning fee per shelf for glaze runs or glaze on bases

  • $220 replacement fee if your work ruins a kiln shelf

  • Kiln damage fines, assessed by the studio manager based on severity

BRT clay users: A bisque-fired tile or slab must be placed under your work — no exceptions.

We reserve the right to refuse work that may damage our equipment or other artists’ work.
